Travel agents are soon becoming extinct in a world of online reservations.  Many people are becoming more and more independent in discovering cheaper and more efficient ways to travel. Use online reservations in order to find discount travel reservations.

What is the first step to getting cheap transportation?  Check your connections.  See if a family member works for the airlines.  Also, if you want the ultimate discount travel reservations, you can work for a transportation organization.

Don't want to make transportation your career?  Find cheap car reservations, flight reservations, cruise reservations, airline ticket reservations and online hotel reservations at sites like Priceline, Expedia, and Orbitz.  Also, if you combine multiple forms of reservations (i.e. purchasing a package for airline ticket reservations and discount hotel reservations), you will certainly find a cheaper deal than if you purchased each item individually.  Also, make your reservations early.  If you plan ahead, you are bound to find a cheaper flight months ahead than if you purchased the week immediately before the flight time.

For example, let's say I want to go to Vegas.

1. Online Reservations: My tool of research would be the internet and I would be making online reservations. I would also be using a spreadsheet or graph of potential opportunities. For example, let's say I looked for online reservations and I came across cheap hotels or a cheap flight, however, the dates don't coincide. I would price comparison shop online reservations and find the cheapest alternative.

2. Plan Ahead of Time: I would do research starting at least one month before my predicted date of arrival. The more time before the predicted arrival, the lower the price.

3. Transportation: I would then decide which form of transportation is most convenient. If I were to fly, I would look at online reservations for cheap flights.

4. Hotel: Las Vegas hotel reservations are typically more expensive during the weekends and when there are large conventions, so I would plan accordingly. I would research each prospective hotel and would find room reservations that would fit my budget through price comparison shopping.

5. Package Deals: If possible, I would bundle my transportation and hotel and attempt to find a package. Online reservations often offer package options, so do not overlook those.

6. Compare: Don't forget that hotel and transportation exists to service you, so don't be afraid to be picky and don't settle for less (or more, in this case).

Good luck searching online reservations!
