Online Reservations May Not Be the Lowest Price for a Room |

Getting discount travel reservations this season has been fairly easy. Many hotels and airlines are starting to offer great deals in order to fill the hotels and aircraft. With the deep recession that we are experiencing, people are doing less discretionary travel, and room vacancies are falling. Hotel rack rates haven't necessarily fallen, but there are more specials and discounts available. People who make online reservations can take advantage of all the specials that are out there for room reservations, but sometimes if you call the hotel directly, you can get an even better rate.
The online reservations can often be the best rates around, but if the hotel or motel is experiencing a high cancellation rate, you might be able to snare a room for much less than what is advertised online. It's worth a call to find out. Ask to speak to the manager, and see what they can provide for discounted pricing. You might get a great room for an incredible price. It's worth the phone call to find out if you can do better than what you find online. |
