Car reservations are always a good idea when you are going on vacation, regardless of your destination. If you are planning a vacation abroad, car reservations are a good idea because you get to see more. My husband and I have made car reservations when visiting various Greek islands. For example, we rented a car when we visited the island of Santorini. Without the car reservation we would only have discovered a fraction of what this beautiful island has to offer. Because we had a vehicle, we got to explore the island from top to bottom, and this made our vacation a wonderful experience.
Car reservations are also a great idea for people who plan to travel within the United States, even if you have your own vehicle. Next month my parents are flying over from Britain and my husband and I are going to drive down to the Florida Keys with them. We have rented a minivan for the journey for numerous reasons. First of all, renting a minivan means that we don’t have to put any miles on either of or own two vehicles. Furthermore, the mini van gets as good a gas mileage as out small Dodge Caliber and is big enough to transport four people, two dogs and our entire luggage. By hiring a car with my parents we will also half the cost of gas and share the driving so that nobody gets too exhausted.
If you are sensible and plan your vacation carefully, making car reservations and pooling your resources with the people you are travelling with can actually save you a lot of money and make your trip more enjoyable and convenient.
