If there is one piece of advice I would give to someone planning a trip, it would be to always make your rental car reservations in advance. I can say from experience that taking a chance and not making reservations before you arrive to find a car, is not a good idea. Before we were married, my husband and I did exactly that and it almost ruined our trip.

We had just graduated from college when we decided to take a little trip to celebrate. For some reason, we also decided that we wanted to just head out on our trip without any preconceived plans. I guess we were trying to be spontaneous, but all we really accomplished was annoying ourselves and each other.

I truly feel that the worst part of our trip was walking up to the car reservations desk and saw that they did not have a single car left. We had to stay in the airport for almost five hours while we waited for a car to be returned. Now, we always book our rental car reservations online before we go on a trip, and we have never had that problem again.
