I wanted to do something extra special for my parents one year. I knew their anniversary was coming up soon and that they wanted to get away for a weekend. With my father having had shoulder surgery so close to the time that they wanted to get away, I knew that they would not have enough money for the trip they wanted. A friend of mine had told me about saving extra money by making room reservations in advance.

I looked up some rooms online and saw that making room reservations was a fantastic idea! I made it a point to find out where they would want to go without asking them straight out. I wanted the room reservations to be a surprise. I finally found out that they wanted to head North and go skiing for a weekend. I found out the dates that they were able to go and made the room reservations for them.

A month before their anniversary I invited my parents over for dinner. I made it sound like it was just going to be a casual and uneventful dinner. When it was time for dessert I asked my parents about the skiing trip they wanted to go on. My mother told me that after the medical bills, they would not be able to go. I was so excited to be able to tell them that I had made room reservations for the romantic weekend they wanted to plan. They were overjoyed. My mother insisted it was too much, but I told her that I had gotten a great deal for them by making the room reservations online and in advance. I was glad to be able to give them the snowed in weekend they were dreaming of.
